How To Download Ios App From Another Country
How to install iOS apps from another country's App Store on your iPhone without hassle
Unfortunately, there are some Applications — for example Google Voice, Google Fi or just the US Starbucks app to order your Latte— which are only available in certain App Stores (e.g. USA) and can't be downloaded if your region is different, for example Europe.
A few years ago, you could just change the Country in your App Store settings, but as soon as you have any Subscriptions like Apple Music, you simply can't:
"To change stores, you must first cancel your Apple Music membership"
Even if you cancel your 1-year-subscription, you have to wait until the subscription expires. So effectively does Apple Music block you from changing countries. Bummer.
Th e solution is to create a different Apple ID registered in the US (just choose some WeWork address) — and charge it with an US iTunes Store Card. But also that only brings you so far, because logging out of your iCloud account on iOS is a big hassle, deletes all your Wallet entries and basically takes your hours.
So what's the solution? Well, the nice developers from iMazing provide help, and that even works in the free version of the software (although iMazing is a perfect backup app and I can only highly recommend you to buy it.
Using iMazing, you can basically log into different App Stores, download Apps and install them on any iPhone.
But how? Well, the interesting thing is, that you can have Apps downloaded through different Apple IDs on the same device — which also do update independently from your region settings on your iPhone. So the challenge is "just" to install the Apps. Here's how to do it. The only thing you need is an old iPhone (you still have one, do you?), as you can't download new apps which you've never downloaded before via iMazing.
So here are the steps to install an iOS app from a foreign iOS AppStore without changing your region settings or Apple ID logins on your iPhone:
- Create a new Apple ID (let's call it john+appleid_usa@doe.com) with the desired region (e. g. USA, just use a WeWork address) on appleid.apple.com. Potentially charge a few bucks via an US (!) iTunes Gift Card (ask somebody in the US or buy them on eBay).
- Take your old iPhone and john+apple_usa@doe.com account (john+appleid_usa@doe.com) you've just created (you can also do the whole procedure of creating a new Apple ID on the old phone if you want).
- Double check in Settings > iCloud (your name) > Media & Purchases > View Account > Country/Region that you have chosen the desired new region for your apps (e.g. US).
- Go to App Store and download the desired App (for example, Google Fi), still on your old iPhone
- Connect your current iPhone (where you want to install the App) with your Desktop computer and start iMazing.
- Select your device in the iMazing sidebar, click on Apps and then choose Manage Apps on the bottom of the App.
- iMazing now requests you to log into an an Apple ID (if it shows your Apps right away, change from "Device" to "Library" — then you should see your current Apple ID, so choose Logout). Enter your foreign Apple ID credentials from john+appleid_usa@doe.com. It might prompt you on your old iPhone as second factor to approve and to enter a one time code.
- Your just downloaded App should now appear in the Library — right click the App and choose Install (if it doesn't, go to "Add from App Store" at the bottom, search and download the app and then click install — check this video from iMazing for more details how to download apps).
- That's it. Sometimes the App doesn't appear instantly, but after you turn your iPhone off and on , the US app should appear. Potentially your current iPhone asks you to log in as well on the US account, that's okay, just do so.
- If you paid for iMazing, that's now a good time to do a full backup of your phone.
- That's it. You have now installed an app from a foreign App Store without changing the country or changing logins on your iOS iPhone device. Enjoy!
